Activities in Bulgaria

* International Enlarging European Awareness in Sofia, Bulgaria, 26

European Youth Movement - Bulgaria in cooperation with the National Student Confederation have the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the International seminar "Enlarging European Awareness".

The idea for the project came up in connection with the Accession of ten new members by the EU and with the effect that the Enlargement will have on young people. The necessity for information about the processes on the continent, as well as the need for building leadership skills in young people aiming at awakening their civil consciousness and acceptance of the common European values, are some of the basic motives, which have provoked the initiation of this project.

The main objective of the project is to give practical knowledge to participants about the EU Enlargement and the different aspects of its consequences. The political, social, economic and cultural aspects that the seminar addresses will contribute to the broader involvement of young people in the integration process and will turn them into active participants in the future of Europe debate in their countries. Their involvement into the debate, is a condition for overcoming stereotypes and national barriers in the context of creating a common European identity in young people in terms of better knowledge of EU issues.

All of the participants are invited to share their views and beliefs on the enlargement of the EU, the Treaty Establishing a Constitution for Europe and the means and ways for achieving a European Federation.

Throughout the seminar lectures will be provided by representatives of the diplomatic missions of some EU member states in Bulgaria, as well as by representatives of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The rich social program, including a sightseeing trip to the Rila Monastery, one of the most significant and picturesque monuments on the Balkans, will enable the participants to feel the atmosphere of Bulgaria - an ever-evolving and modern country with great cultural heritage and traditions, dating back from Roman and Byzantine times.
